Christian Goodwillie

Christian Goodwillie is director and curator of special collections at the Burke Library of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. He also serves as Editor of the Richard W. Couper Press. Goodwillie received his MS in Historic Preservation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001. From 2001-2009 he was Curator of Collections at Hancock Shaker Village. He has also served as president of the Communal Studies Association. Goodwillie has authored, co-authored, or edited twelve books and numerous articles on the Shakers, Freemasonry, and other topics. His most recent book is Richard McNemar: Frontier Heretic and Shaker Apostle.
Goodwillie's association with Historic Eastfield began as a visitor around 2004. Don Carpentier invited Goodwillie and his wife Erika Sanchez Goodwillie to teach classes in Historic Paintmaking at Eastfield in 2009 and 2011. Since then, Goodwillie has taken a class in Printing at Eastfield and brought classes from Hamilton College for one day visits to print broadsides in the Print Shop. Goodwillie joined the board of the Historic Eastfield Foundation in 2023. He lived in Clinton, New York, in an 1805 vernacular Georgian home built for Revolutionary War veteran Barnabas Pond.
