Executive Director – Position Description and Qualifications
The Historic Eastfield Foundation is seeking a qualified part-time Executive Director.
Background:
The Foundation, a non-profit educational institution chartered by the New York State Regents Board in 1993, sponsors educational workshops and events at Historic Eastfield Village in East Nassau, NY. Since its beginning, the Foundation has been staffed almost entirely by volunteers. However, it is interested in expanding its programs and pursuing substantially greater development beyond what can be effectively managed by volunteers.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Executive Director can be expected to evolve from prioritized initial critical needs of administration, development, and communication which may lead to broader roles and a full-time position. The overall scope includes:
Maintain an institutional repository of HEF documents and become familiar with history and people involved.
Develop standard components of funding proposals.
Identify components of HEF mission, vision and programs that would appeal to donors.
Develop a list of potential donors including high net worth individuals.
Identify potential sources of current potential grants both public and private.
Provide support to increasing the size and breadth of experience of the Board.
Sort & develop the contact lists.
Manage workshop administration and special events.
Coordinate communication and engagement.
Participate in financial management and budget development (with Board Treasurer).
Coordinate development of publicity for general engagement of supporters, potential donors and potential trustees.
Oversee management of the assets of Historic Eastfield Foundation.
Attend Board meetings by Zoom or in-person (normally monthly).
Much of this responsibility is expected to be supported by Board members, particularly as the Board is expanded.
Qualifications:
Highly organized.
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
Proven experience with grant writing.
Proven experience identifying grant/donor opportunities and giving objectives.
Familiar with print and digital communication.
Familiar with and have a network in the historic craft community.
Located within the vicinity of Eastfield Village – This is a priority qualification.
Proven experience with craft and history related non-profits.
Compensation:
The position is initially expected to be part-time focused on fundraising and development, the product of which would potentially finance a full-time position with broader responsibilities. Compensation for the part-time position is expected to be approximately $25,000 to $35,000/year dependent on qualifications and experience.
