Welcome Information

  • Comfortable, practical clothing & shoes, and any personal necessities.

Pen and paper for taking notes.

    Camera/cell phone.

Food for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. (Refrigerator is available, but you may want to bring your own cooler.) Beverages for day & evening.

  • Potable well water is available from an indoor faucet in the Briggs Tavern kitchen. (There is no running hot water.) We expect that there will be arrangements for showering at a near-by campground.

Modern Porta-san(s) will be on-site for each of the classes.

Wifi is available in specific areas.

Limited electricity is available in the Church and the Briggs Tavern. These few outlets may be used for cell phone or computer charging. Please be careful not to ask too much of them, as they will trip the circuit breakers with excessive load.

There are a few removable window screens in the Village. Insect spray is recommended if you anticipate a problem.

Off the Briggs’ kitchen, there is a small pantry which has a full-size refrigerator (with freezer), microwave, and coffee maker.

The Briggs Tavern kitchen is fully equipped with period pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and a working hearth and bake-oven—all available for use.

  • Unless noted elsewhere, meals are NOT provided.

It is recommended that you bring whatever you would like for your breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. These may also be purchased at local businesses within an 8-mile radius.

It is also recommended that you bring whatever beverages you wish to drink during the day, with your meals, and in the evenings. There is potable well water available.

You may choose to bring your own dinner. However, preparing and consuming communal dinners in the period-equipped Briggs Tavern can be a memorable part of the Eastfield experience.

Many participants may wish to go out to some of the good restaurants in the area.
