Sash Replication and Restoration
August 15th - 17th 2024
Limited to 10 Students
Students will learn to restore early 19th C. wood window sashes with hand tools. Students will build a small 4-lite sash in order to fully understand the construction details of sashes. The workshop will move into repairing wood sashes and window frames, including assessing the damage and appropriate repairs, lead paint safety practices and how to accurately reproduce the profiles. Students will learn how to remove the sashes from the frame and how they should fit the frame, where and how to add weather stripping, and how to finish and glaze the reproduced and restored sashes.
