sold out

July 13th - 14th 2024

Limited to 12 Students

The art of Scherenschnitte (“scissorscutting” in German) is a craft that was brought to this country by European settlers in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In this course we will explore its early American history as well as traditions from other cultures. By starting with simple designs, students will cut their own papercuts and then graduate to more complex compositions. In addition, we will false grain a frame for our final papercut and assemble it for hanging. Students will receive a materials list prior to the class.
